With Microsoft cancelled the super duper graphics pack for Minecraft a week ago they had a new announcement today. Minecraft Ray Tracing is coming to Windows 10. This will add some nice new reflection and lightning to the game. But since it is only for Windows 10 what about the Consoles?
Better Graphics for a small group
Minecraft will soon get ray tracing support for Windows 10 users with a Directx R compatible videocard. Microsoft and Nvidia teamed up to make this happen but it will not be the same as the super duper graphics pack. This is only for Windows 10 users and we get no new textures this time. Nothing is know about the price or when it comes out. People are skeptical about it since the cancellation of the Super Duper Graphics Pack last week and are wondering or this will see the daylight at all. Also not many people have compatible videocards yet because ray tracing isn’t on the marked that long so that is also a problem.
What is Ray Tracing
Ray tracing is a technology that allows for realistic reflections in videogames and was introduced by Nvidia in 2018. While only a few games have support for it at this time many Games will get this in the future. For example Warcraft III and Minecraft. But not many videocard support ray tracing yet so there is a big chance you can’t use it at all. Videocards that do support this are expensive. Ray tracing is the future however. Just compare it to physics at the end of the zero’s. AMD also is supporting it in their new Videocards but same as Nvidia the price can be high.
